Dr. Omar Montes
Dr. Omar Montes, DVM, owns and practices at Florence Mobile Veterinary Clinic. His journey in veterinary medicine began with a childhood dream of becoming a veterinarian and has grown into more than two decades devoted to caring for pets and the families who love them.
Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, Dr. Montes moved to Mexico to pursue his veterinary education and experience life from a different perspective. He earned his veterinary degree from the University of Colima in 2003. He completed a three-year residency in small-animal medicine and surgery at the University of the State of Mexico in 2006.
After completing his residency in 2006, Dr. Montes returned to the United States to practice veterinary medicine. He later completed the certification process for foreign veterinary graduates and obtained his U.S. veterinary license.
Throughout his career, Dr. Montes has gained extensive experience in small-animal medicine, preventive care, diagnostics, dentistry, soft-tissue surgery, and orthopedic surgery. His professional interests also include pain management, nutrition, weight management, physical rehabilitation, and regenerative medicine.
After many years of practicing veterinary medicine in Arizona, Dr. Montes founded Florence Mobile Veterinary Clinic in early 2026 to give the Florence community and surrounding areas convenient access to comprehensive veterinary care. His goal is to combine many of the capabilities of a traditional veterinary hospital with the personal attention and accessibility of a locally focused mobile clinic.
Dr. Montes believes strongly in client education and communication. He wants pet owners to understand their pet’s condition, available treatment options, and the reasoning behind his recommendations so they can make informed decisions about their pet’s care.
One of the most rewarding aspects of veterinary medicine for Dr. Montes is building long-term relationships with his patients and their families—from meeting a new puppy or kitten to providing care throughout adulthood to helping families navigate the challenges that can come with a pet’s senior years.
Giving back to the community is also important to Dr. Montes. Throughout his career, he has participated in a variety of volunteer opportunities and enjoys contributing his time, knowledge, and veterinary skills to help others whenever possible. He believes that being a veterinarian is not only about caring for animals, but also about supporting the people and communities they are a part of.
Above all, Dr. Montes considers it a privilege to advocate for his patients and serve as a trusted veterinary resource for the families who care for them.
When he is away from veterinary medicine, Dr. Montes finds great joy in spending time with his wife and their two children. For him, time with family is one of life’s greatest rewards, whether they are sharing new experiences, creating memories, or simply enjoying time together.
